The latest release for Xbox Live Arcade, SNK's Metal Slug 3, turns out to be a bit of a disappointment. With censored blood right out of 1995, excessive slow down and imprecise controls, Metal Slug 3 on XBLA probably won't be the same Metal Slug you remember. Changing your system's language setting to Japanese can restore the red blood, but there's no solution for the inexcusable slow down throughout the the game. The control problems are as you'd expect for a 2D game with the 360 controller. Using the direction pad suffers from it's inherent flaws and the analog stick just feels wrong. Hopefully using an arcade stick helps out a bit.
As always, there's a free trial so you can try it out for yourself, but my verdict is that it simply isn't worth the price.
